Stretch Ceiling Technology
Laqfoil Stretch Ceiling is a light structure that is suspended from the ceiling or installed on the wall of a home, office, industrial, sports and recreation, or entertainment facility, or in any other building. It serves the purpose of enhancing the visual appeal of the space, but it can also augment acoustic properties, provide a bacteria-free medical environment, and offer energy-saving benefits. Stretch Ceiling technology can also be used for diffusing light or to create floating panels and various 3D shapes.
A Stretch Ceiling is essentially a firm perimeter frame with a lightweight fabric membrane that has been stretched and affixed to it. It is not necessary for the frame to be flat or rectangular. This allows for an endless variety of creative structures that can be used to improve an interior environment.
Stretch Ceiling fabric is usually a thin PVC film (0.2mm), but other materials are used occasionally. The material is very light: one square metre of Stretch Ceiling typically weighs about 170-180 grams. The membrane film comes in a variety of textures, including mirror-like high gloss, matte, satin, metallic, translucent, and perforated for acoustic attenuation.
There are no limitations on the color of the membrane material. We carry over 260 colours and can order custom colours. It is also possible to digitally print any high resolution print to the membrane, which turns it into a very powerful instrument of aesthetic impression. If the membrane is stretched by an external force (e.g. water accumulation from broken pipes), it will fully restore its shape when the external load has been removed. After a Stretch Ceiling is assembled, it can sustain considerable loads (over 100 kg per 1 square metre area) without breaking or rupturing.
Typical Stretch Ceiling fabric parameters:
Acoustic Properties of the membrane material: DIN EN 20354 (ISO 354) – 100mm VOID, Acoustic Properties DIN EN 20354 (ISO 354) – 100mm VOID, absorption coefficients guide for typical installation using stretched materials with minimum 45mm insulation above. For standard non-perforated film:
|Absorption Coefficient ( )||0.14||0.17||0.63||0.64||0.24||0.19||0.14|
Thermal Emission Factor NH/PTH: Matt – 0.16 / Satin 0.16 High Gloss & Metallic – 0.15; thermal Emission Factor ESPIL: Matt 0.84 / Satin 0.84 / High Gloss & Metallic – 0.85.
Antistatic: typical average for High Gloss – 4.10 at 11ohms.
Fire Rating: CAN-S102 & ASTM-E84. Awarded new Euro classification to: EN13501-1, Rating: B S1 d0, UK Equivalent to Class “0” designation for building regulations. (European Tested)
Vapour Barrier: Vapour Tested NF EN 14716 § 4.1.3
Hygiene Typical Microbiological Trial 14 Days: chlorinated solution wipe, after 7 days inoculated
Bacterium – E.Coli, Listeria, Salmonella, Yeast, Mould – NONE DETECTED. (European Tested)
Stretch Ceiling frames are generally created by an aluminum or PVC extrusions, and have a special locking system that guarantees a smooth and wrinkle-free membrane. Stretch ceiling installation is usually performed by trained professionals in order to achieve better results.
